Jose Mourinho speaks out on Kepa’s refusal to obey Maurizio Sarri
Jose Mourinho admits Kepa’s decision to undermine Maurizio Sarri during Chelsea’s Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City made him ‘really sad’. Kepa caused huge controversy at Wembley by refusing to be substituted for Willy Caballero in the second half of extra time with the game set to go to penalties. Maurizio Sarri was clearly angered by Kepa’s act of defiance, although after the game the Italian moved to play down the incident and blamed it on miscommunication between himself and the team doctor. But Mourinho, who won three Premier League titles in his two stints as Chelsea boss, believes Kepa’s actions put Sarri in a weakened position.
